West Champion Duncan On The Offensive At
California Speedway
Mike Duncan, the current and back-to-back NASCAR champion of the Grand
National Division, AutoZone West Series is expected to attack the track
Friday night at California Speedway for the Relocate Here 200. As the
reigning series champ, Duncan knows all too well that when it comes to
September racing, time is of the essence – especially a really fast
time.
Duncan brings the Lucas Oil/Ron’s Rear
Ends/GreenFrogRoastingCompany.com Chevrolet team to California Speedway
with an aggressive attitude, as he sits fifth in points and continues
to experiment with set-ups. “We have to either win it or finish in the
top three to have a chance of staying in the hunt for the
championship”, Duncan states, as he recounts the pivotal races of the
two, previous championship seasons. When asked of a specific key to
success on this track, Duncan states, “Handling. If you have a car that
can handle the corners at Fontana, then you can just race hard and
attack it.”
When asked if he’s felt in contention to win any of the races this
season, Duncan responds,” No, not really. We just haven’t been there.
But anything can happen out here on the track, and that’s why people
love racing – because anything can happen. To win championships, so
many different variables have to fit into the equation . . . and this
season we just haven’t had all of them come together . . . yet.” That
last word naturally led Duncan to say, “But with every trip down here,
we’ve continued to add valuable notes to help us in our approach, and
we feel that this could be the win that gets us back into contention.”
Mike Duncan is pleased to announce the official website for his racing
operation: MBDuncanMotorSports.com,
and invites all racing enthusiasts to enjoy it.
The race is to be televised live at 8:00 p.m. in high definition to a
national audience on HDNet. In addition, an enhanced replay is set to
air on SPEED on Sept. 14.
