Duncan's 2006 Season Ends With Best
Possible News
Bakersfield, CA - The two previous seasons NASCAR driver Mike Duncan
has finished the Grand National Division, West Series as the Champion,
and it goes without saying that the titles themselves were reason to
celebrate. Ironically, having just finished the 2006 season third
in points, banged up from the last two races and drained from defending
a two-year reign, Duncan couldn't be happier.
After a menacing 16th place finish in the Toyota All-Star Shootout,
this high-profile media magnet escaped into the Southern California
weekend with his family. Duncan was eager to get away and celebrate the
good news: his father-in-law, Larry Morris had been informed that his
cancer is receeding, and that things are looking positive!
When Duncan was tracked down for the post-race comments, he exclaimed,"
I can't describe how happy I am right now! The real story is that
Larry heard some great news regarding his cancer - it's real positive,
and that's the only thing that matters to me, my family and my
crew." A noticebly emotional Duncan described his final race of
the 2006 season with a quick mention of the car not handling right, but
there was no mistaking the main topic on his mind, stating," Larry is
such a big part of my racing life . . . he's been missed when he hasn't
been with us, and I'm just so happy to hear this news!"
As the driver of the Lucas Oil/Ron's Rear Ends/Greenfrogroastingco.com
Chevrolet, Duncan is looking ahead to the 2007 season with great
anticipation. With regards to the series' inclusion of the
Southwest tour teams that will be joining the ranks on the West series,
Duncan's voice hints of his excitement when he says, "Oh man!
Next season should be really intense. With all of those (SW Tour)
guys coming up . . . it's going to be one of the most watched series in
the country . . . can't wait!"
A final statement from Duncan before he hurried off was aimed toward
all of the people who helped him reign as West champ for two, excellent
seasons. "My Crew Chief, Bill (Sedgwick) and I certainly want to
thank all of the sponsors, friends and fans that continue to create the
possibilities and energy for us to compete and run for championships
every season. Thank you."
